Residents living close to the new site for Ealing Fields High School say their homes are being damaged by vibrations caused by the building work.

Bowmer + Kirkland, the contractors for Place House building project, took formal possession of the Place House site  (formerly St Anne's Convent and then King Fahad Academy) on Little Ealing Lane on 21 January.

Since then demolition and clearance work has been ongoing and residents in neighbouring roads have noticed a variety of cracks appearing within their own homes.

These photos give an indication of some of the problems experienced in Ealing Park Gardens.

James Guest from Ealing Fields Residents Associations says, ''It seems that there is a bit of a ‘stumbling block’ as to the definition of vibration damage. The Department for Education, which is paying for the new school, appears to be relying on a British Standard Institute (BSI) definition which focuses on ‘Structural Damage’ – and ignores lesser non-structural damage to the interiors etc. of neighbouring homes.

''It seems the threshold for ‘Structural Damage’ hasn’t been triggered by the sensors the contractors have been using.  The contractors appear to interpret this as proof that there hasn’t been any damage!

''Given the problems our fellow residents have been suffering, and the School’s commitment to be a ‘Good Neighbour’, it would extremely beneficial if the School could agree to rectify this and any other damage which has emerged in the neighbouring homes during the clearance and demolition works on the School site.''
