The final fixture of the cross country season saw the Ealing Eagles collect individual and team silver medals at the Middlesex County Veterans’ Championships in Greenford.

Hannah Copeland was second place in the Ladies’ V35 category and was joined by Louise Plank and Mirka Miturova to win the team silver medals in the same age category.

These prizes follow on the heels of the successes in the Metropolitan and Sunday Cross Country Leagues, which are held over a number of fixtures against clubs from across London, Middlesex, Essex and Hertfordshire.

The Eagles Ladies were victorious in the Sunday Cross Country League, winning both the A and B teams competitions and finishing runners up in the veterans competition. The team saw strong performances over the course of the season from Jennifer Watt, runner up in in V45 age category, Ellen Easten, third place in the V35 age category and Melissah Gibson and Sarah Bailey, who both posted top three race finishes.

In the Met League, the Eagles Men’s team won Division Three and Veteran Men’s team, those aged 40+, won promotion after finishing runners up in Division Three.  There were strong performances throughout the season from Jose Manuel Pabon and John Foxall.

Men’s Team Captain Kieran Santry said “We are delighted that both Men’s teams have been promoted.  The Ladies’ team set the standard by winning promotion last year and it’s great to see the Men’s teams matching their achievements.”

The Ladies’ team performed well in the Metropolitan League, finishing 6th in Division Two, whilst the Ladies Veterans’ team, those aged 35+, won Division Three.

Marion Bolster, Sarah Mackenzie and Sue Park were consistent scorers for the team thoughout the season.

Ladies’ Team Captain Mackenzie said “The Eagles Ladies have had another great cross country season.  We have established ourselves in Division Two and our ladies vets team have won their division. As captain, I have found it really encouraging to see our regular cross country stalwarts joined this season by a number of runners trying cross country for the first time since school and loving it as much as the rest of us do.”
