Ealing Festival Open Day Exhibition

Truth and Reconciliation at Northolt Library

Ealing Autumn Festival

Ealing Autumn Festival’s series of summer arts workshops and reading days as part of its touring exhibition proved a great success and now the paintings have gone on display at Northolt Library.

The festival’s Truth and Reconciliation exhibition is showing at libraries across the borough throughout the year and is now at Northolt Library in Church Road until Thursday, September 15.

An Open Day is being held at the library on Saturday, September 10, from 1pm-4pm, when there will be the chance to contribute to the exhibition’s public collage and visitors will also be asked to choose names for the paintings. The artists deliberately left their work unnamed to see what titles the viewing audience would come up with.

The summer workshops were held throughout August at Northolt Leisure Library and included a visit from the Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Dr Patricia Walker who presented prizes for the Roald Dahl Big Quiz.

Anne Harvey, Ealing broadcaster and anthologist, also read some of her favourite poetry to the assembled audience.

Festival artistic director Gillian Spragg said:  “Our stay at Northolt Leisure was a fantastic success and Balvinder Kudhail's leadership of the staff at the library and Linda Davies' absolutely staunch support as co-project manager to West London Arts Scene was indispensable.

"The participants, not only children but adults too, learnt to embroider, do a blanket stitch, about  programming Lego,  taking photos with different lighting and the power of art. Not bad for a month's work.

Young people and children can sign up at any time for an Arts Award at Northolt Leisure Library or visit www.ealingautumnfestival.co.uk for more information and future exhibition dates.
