Ealing Street Party For Jo Cox |

Hundreds turn out in Drayton Gardens as part of 'Great Get Together'
Hundreds of Ealing residents joined together in one huge street party in memory of the murdered MP Jo Cox. It was part of the Jo Cox Great get together and largely paid for by her memorial fund via the council. Drayton Gardens was closed for the whole afternoon (30th September) and neighbours along with ward councillors, the safer neighbourhoods police team and local MP, Steve Pound, all enjoyed the day.
There was a circus skills workshop, football skills by Hanwell FC, face painting and lots of food from local small businesses such as Hilltop Roti and Cafe Lemoo. The event was organised by Justine Sullivan ( pic above) who has been running Play streets for the last two years and it's hoped that it will become an annual event. Gerald Power from the DCA said street parties are a great way of breaking the ice and getting to know your neighbours. He said: '' While we feel we have a good community, there were quite a few neighbours who said that despite living on the road for a decide or more they seldom got a chance to meet many of their neighbours and we hope that we can change this.We all enjoyed it and hope it will be a fitting tribute to Jo Cox if we can now keep these events going and build an even better community.''
