A Hanwell community micro pub which is just a year old has won Ealing Pub of the Year 2018.

The Dodo Micropub on Boston Road beat off competition from 30 other borough pubs to win the Campaign for Real Ale vote. This one room pub serves cask ale straight from the barrel, craft beer, real cider, craft cider, wine, prosecco and soft drinks.

Owner Lucy Do, gave up her marketing career to set up the community venue after having sampled similar ones in Kent and the Home Counties.

She says, '' I visited my first micropub in 2014 and immediately thought, “why aren’t there any micropubs in West London?”. I’d always thought there was more to life than 5 days a week behind a desk, driven by targets, board meetings and meetings about bloody meetings! So, the plan to launch my very own micropub and bring the concept north of the river was born (once redundancy from a big media publisher gave me the kick up the bum I needed to do something for myself).''

She's delighted with the CAMRA recognition and adds,
'' Having opened the business just over a year ago it’s a real surprise and honour to have won Ealing Pub of the Year! I’m really touched that people like what we do enough to vote for us! I’ve also gone on to beat the other borough winners in our CAMRA branch, Hop & Vine, Ruislip & Beer Asylum, Pinner to be named the overall branch pub of the year.''
