The Dickens Yard development has been attracting much curiosity and a few raised eyebrows when a new piece of public art appeared.

The 'Ealing Rock' is by artist Gordon Young - one of the UK's leading artists in the field of public art.

The large stone obelisk is emblazoned with words from 'Count Your blessings And Smile', a George Formby song featured in the 1940 Ealing Studios production 'Let George Do It, by Michael Balcon.

It's a central feature in the new Elizabeth Square which has recently opened, and has met with a mixed response locally with some people unaware of the significance to Ealing.

Dickens Yard has has been slowly taking shape over the last eight years and the shopping and residential development now has a walkway with a clear view of Christ The Saviour Church.

Most of the apartments on the the site are now sold (prices from £900,000 and above).

More shops and restaurants are expected to open their doors from autumn this year and the official unveiling of Elizabeth Square will take place in November.
