A local dentist is moving out of his surgery and into schools in a bid to improve the teeth of Ealing's school children.

Dr Nikolaos Lilis , owner of Ealing Dental Studio on St Mary's Road will be taking part in the National Smile Month (19th May - 19th June 2014) organised by the British Dental Health Foundation, which aims to improve the oral health of all people across the UK.

The campaign plays a significant role in promoting dental hygiene in local communities and reaches around 50 million people each year.

Dr Lilis says : ''Given that a third of all children starting school have tooth decay, I've arranged to visit several local schools in Ealing during the whole month and explain to the kids how to maintain good dental hygiene.'

We've already started using the Smiley, a fun and educational way that carries on the back three key messages:

1) Brush your teeth for two minutes twice a day using a fluoride toothpaste
2) Cut down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks
3) Visit the dentist regularly, as often as they recommend.
