A man who calls on properties in Ealing and the surrounding areas at night making various false claims and asking for money is reportedly back in the area again.

Persistent beggar Darren Bingham, aged 38, has been the subject of police orders and previously jailed for his activities.

He knocks on doors - sometimes very late at night - making various claims and asking for money. The latest claim is that he has a wife in labour and needs to get to the hospital urgently.

Previous warnings have been given about him dating back to 2013. At that time the police described him as a conman who preyed on often vulnerable victims to feed his drug habit despite being placed under an Anti-Social Behaviour Order. He was accused of inventing stories about needing money to help sick relatives.

In January this year he was jailed for 16 weeks.

The most recent report was of him knocking at a house on Carlyle Road W5 with the story that he had been locked out of his house and needed cash to get to the hospital.
