Cuckoo Lane Surgery in Hanwell - a nurse-led practice, has been rated ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission.

It was one of just two surgeries in England rated at the highest level by the commission in its 39 reports on care standards in GP practices.

Cuckoo Lane Surgery is run by two directors who are both nurses. The practice is proud of its personal, patient-centred culture.

The practice offers a wide range of services, such as:

  • ·         The Well-Woman Clinic offers ante-natal booking, emergency and planned contraception, HRT, smears, open on Thursdays from 4.30pm-6.30pm by appointment, and a walk-in ‘first come first served’ service on Thursdays from 7pm-7.30pm.
  • ·         Immunisations and advice for adult and child travellers is available on Tuesdays by appointment, between 5pm-5.30pm.
  • ·         Blood tests can be done at the surgery by a phlebotomist in a morning session.
  • ·         The Diabetes Clinic will assess your diabetes care needs, on appointment.

In February, the surgery moved to new premises on Church Road, in Hanwell, just a 10 minute walk from Hanwell Mainline Station.

Julie Belton, Operational and Strategic Director at Cuckoo Lane Surgery, said:

“We are absolutely thrilled that our hard work and commitment using a nurse lead model has been recognised and acknowledged by the CQC. Our motto is continual improvement which we as a team will maintain in order to provide the highest standards of clinical care for our population.”

Carol Sears, Clinical Director at Cuckoo Lane Surgery, said:

“We are delighted that we had such a positive recognition from the CQC & it reflects our team approach and hard work of the whole team.”

Dr Mohini Parmar, chair of Ealing CCG, said: “It is fantastic that Cuckoo Lane Surgery has been awarded an ‘outstanding’ rating by the CQC.”

The practice has an active Patient Participation Group (PPG). Like all PPGs, Friends of Cuckoo Lane is led by volunteer patients, and is open to anyone registered at the practice.
