Trackside work that Network Rail and their contractors are undertaking in the coming months, including Easter and the early May Bank Holidays, in the Ealing Broadway area is likely to cause some disruption to local residents. Much of this work must take place at night and at weekends when the trains are not running.

This weekend (1 - 2 April) noisy piling work has been rescheduled to take place. It will commence at 10pm on Saturday and is expected to conclude at 10am Sunday.

These works, which involve the installation of tubular steel pile foundations for overhead
line equipment, are part of the adjustment needed to the existing railway infrastructure
to enable the operation of the Elizabeth Line and Great Western Railway trains. In
order to achieve a safe working environment, sections of the track must be closed to
operational rail traffic whilst the works are carried out.

While the levels of disruption will vary, there will be periods of intense activity and the
work may be noisy. Network Rail say they will use a vibration method in the first instance, but will have to use the noisier hammer piling when ground conditions make the vibration method
ineffective. These works may cause disruption for neighbours in the vicinity.

Mobile screens/barriers or enclosures will be placed around the breaking equipment and other noisy hand-held tools, where practical to do so.

There will also be an increase in the amount of work taking place over Easter and the early May Bank Holiday. They will be working 24 hours a day during these periods and therefore residents may suffer higher levels of disruption than normal.

During Easter and the early May Bank Holiday they will be extending platforms which includes some demolition work and installing mechanical, electrical, communication and security systems on platforms. Traffic may be congested at times on The Broadway and The Mall A4020 due to machinery and materials being delivered to site. At various times until December 2017 minor works such as deliveries, drainage, mechanical and electrical installations and site surveys will take place at Ealing Broadway station. All workers will receive daily briefs reminding them to be considerate to neighbours.
