The work is to upgrade the power supply to the main lines and to do this safetly it will be carried out overnight and at weekends when the lines are free.

Piling for the overhead line equipment foundations will take place between 10pm on Saturday 21st May and 9am on Sunday 22nd May.

Crossrail apologise in advance for any disturbance and say

''We will endeavour to minimise any impacts on local residents and briefings will be provided to those working on site about the need be considerate to our neighbours and keep noise to a minimum wherever possible. In addition to the above work, workers with machinery will access the tracks on intermittent occasions at night over the next few months.''

Crossrail say the whole programme is now over 70 per cent complete and is being delivered on time and within budget. The Transport for London (TfL) run railway will be named the Elizabeth line when services through central London open in December 2018.

According to their journey calculator it's estimated that once in service it will take 7 minutes to get from Ealing Broadway to Paddington and 11 minutes to Bond Street.
