A demonstration is to be held at Hanwell station over the issue of the lack of disabled access planned for the Crossrail service. It is to take place on 29th August at 10am.

Hanwell is one of seven stations on the Crossrail network that will have access only by stairs. Campaigners feel this will reduce the utility of the service to the disabled, the elderly, people with very young children and heavy luggage.

After the demonstration at Hanwell, there will be a torch-lit procession to Brentford station. The group will then take the train to Waterloo and then onto Crossrail’s offices in Canary Wharf where they will converge with a similar demonstration from Seven Kings.

Hanwell station is one of 7 stations being built by Crossrail at enormous expense that will not be accessible from street to train. This will affect disabled and older people, those with baby buggies and heavy luggage.
