Man Hurt After Cricket Bat Attack in Southall

A man was knocked unconscious after being hit by someone wielding a cricket bat in Southall Park.

The 21-year-old had been at Southall Broadway for the Vaisaki celebrations which were taking place (Saturday 11th April).

Around 15:15hrs, he decided to leave and walked home through Southall Park, passing a group of men playing cricket.

As he passed he was hit on the head from behind with a cricket bat. He fell to the floor and was left unconscious for a period of around 10-15 seconds.

Officers were flagged down by members of the public alerting them to what had happened. London Ambulance Service were called and the man was taken to a west London hospital where he was treated for a blood clot on the brain. He has since been discharged.

No arrests have been made.

Officers from Ealing CID are investigating and enquiries continue.

Officer in the case, DC Jaspal Bains, said: "The area was very busy that day due to the Vaisaki celebrations taking place and I am appealing to anyone that was in the area that saw this assault to contact me."
