Children from Ealing's Clifton Lodge school on Mattock Lane were pleased to be able to show local MP Rupa Huq around this week.

Dr Huq was invited by Headteacher Dr Tony Thamia and the MP led the assembly and talked to the children about growing up in Ealing, how she became an MP and real life in the House of Commons. Pupils had the opportunity to talk about both local and national issues.

Children from years 2-8 asked a range of questions with discussions ranging from BREXIT to which school the MP herself went to.

Dr Huq says: ''Even though I’ve lived in W5 for 44 years and attended two schools in the seat myself and have visited many others both as a parent and MP, I’d never been to Clifton Lodge which is a comparatively small school despite having been past it many, many times when going to Questors. I enjoyed my visit and assembly. The children were really engaged and asked some great questions – who knows, a future politician could well be among them.

Later in the term, Dr Huq will be taking a group of Year 7 and 8’s on a tour of the Houses of Parliament - which will link with the Citizenship element of the curriculum.
