Ealing Charity Christmas Card Shop has opened its doors for the 33rd year at the Church of Christ the Saviour, New Broadway.

The volunteer-run shop was opened by Stephen Pound MP and the Deputy Mayor of Ealing Cllr. Dr. Abdullah Gulaid. The shop sells cards from over 30 charities and is unique because it is one of only a few charity card shops where 100% of the money raised goes to charity.

Organiser and founder Sue Green, who was recognised for her charitable endeavours with an MBE in the 2017 New Year Honours List, said:  ‘We are delighted to be opening today for our 33rd year. Our main aim for The Ealing Charity Christmas Card shop is to raise as much money as we can for charity, and it’s our incredible army of volunteers who make this possible. We are so lucky to have the help of over 70 local people who work tirelessly to keep the shop running six days a week in the run up to the festive period. It’s because of them that we’ve been able to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for many different charities since we started in 1985.’

Last year the shop raised over £28,000 for over 30 charities, and more than 100 charities have been supported by the shop over the years.

Since the Ealing Charity Christmas Card Shop was started 33 years ago in 1985 it has:

· Sold over 5 million Christmas cards

· Served over 21 thousand happy customers

· Raised over £600,000 pounds

· Supported over 100 different charities

· Been run by over 200 dedicated volunteers

The Ealing Charity Christmas Card is open from Mondays to Saturdays 10am until 5pm; it is based at the Church of Christ the Saviour, New Broadway, Ealing, London, W5 2XA.
