Central Line drivers plan industrial action on Friday

Commuters are facing more disruption after drivers on the Central Line voted to take industrial action on Friday (5 October).

Union leaders say this is due to a "breakdown of industrial relations" in a long-running dispute with the London Underground (LU) blaming Tube bosses for imposing"unsafe" working practices.

Aslef's organiser Finn Brennan said: "We have, reluctantly, decided this is our only course of action."

A second strike by drivers is planned for November 7.

The latest wave of industrial action follows a series of strikes by Piccadily line drivers last week.

Nigel Holness for London Underground said the potential strike action would also see the Waterloo and City Line closed for the entire day because it is operated by the same group of drivers. .

He said: "We are meeting with Aslef leadership to try to work with them to avoid this strike action."

The first strike is due to take place throughout Friday, October 5, and will shut down services for the entire day.

There will also be no Night Tube services on the Central line as drivers are required to begin their shifts at 10pm.
