Thousands of residents in central Ealing and more than a hundred businesses are voting today on the adoption of a neighbourhood plan - the first such in London for a business area, and only the second in the whole country for residents.

Two Referendums, one Residential Referendum and one Business Referendum, relating to the adoption of the Central Ealing Neighbourhood Plan will be held on Thursday 12 October 2017. The hours of poll will be 7am to 10pm.

The question asked in both referendums is: “Do you want Ealing Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Central Ealing to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?”

There are 16,514 eligible voters for the Residential Referendum and 130 named voters for Business Referendum.

Neighbourhood planning is a new right for communities introduced amongst other things through the Localism Act 2011. Communities can now prepare neighbourhood plans to influence the future of their areas. These allow communities to set out their vision for their local area and general planning policies to guide development in their neighbourhood.

Full information on neighbourhood planning and the Neighbourhood Plan for Central Ealing can be found online or can be viewed in person at either Ealing Town Hall Reception, New Broadway, London, W5 2BY or at Ealing Central Library, 103 Ealing Broadway Centre, London, W5 5JY.

Results are expected to be declared at midday tomorrow ( Friday 13th October)
