A Hanwell woman has been recounting a terrifying experience when her husband was carjacked at midnight outside their home.

Adriana Eyzaguirre says it happened last night
(Tuesday 10th October) on Half Acre Road after her husband Martin had double parked. He left the keys in the ignition of the Volkswagon Polo estate car ( reg: KM 55 P0H) to unload his kayaking equiptment and take into the house.

She says: '' As he was doing this, two (maybe more, we don't know but at least two) men came. One jumped in the car and the other fled on his bicycle.

'' The one in the car reversed full tilt towards the Uxbridge Rd, crashed the barrier at the end of the road and carried on reversing at full speed into the Uxbridge Rd. There he almost crashed with another car and almost ran my husband over (intentionally) as he was shouting and running after him. Then he sped off towards Ealing Broadway.''

Both car and kayaking equiptment were stolen.

Adriana wanted to highlight the incident as a warning to others to be vigilant. She believes there is an increase in crime in the area and wants more to be done to improve safety.

Police say: '' Police were called to Half Acre Road, Ealing at 0012hrs on Wednesday, 11 October to reports of car theft. The owner of the vehicle, a Volkswagen Golf, was carrying items into his address when the suspect took the car. As he drove the car away, the suspect collided with width restriction barriers damaging the vehicle.

''When stolen the vehicle contained six kayak paddles [oars].   Officers from Ealing investigate. No arrests. Enquiries continue.''
