Balfour Beatty Education and QED Education Environments are being considered for a £300 million contract to rebuild and refurbish the borough's secondary and special schools.

The two private sector companies now embark on further discussions with the council about their plans for the programme which include developing The Cardinal Wiseman School in Greenford and Dormers Wells High School in Southall.

Construction on these two schools is scheduled to start in October next year, and work due to be completed by 2015.

A new high school is planned for Greenford and seventeen existing schools should benefit from the investment.

Final bids are due to be submitted next February and the winning consortium announced in early April.
