Ealing backgammon players are hoping to give a neglected bowls club a makeover and are in need of help.

The club 'Backgammon in Ealing' (BGIE) started last year after a group of interested players discussed it on the Ealing Today forum.

Now they meet each week (on a Thursday) at the Ealing Conservative Unionist Bowling Club (ECUBC) which is tucked away on Craven Street in W5.

The building is around a hundred years old  - requiring some TLC - and the community spirited backgammon players have offered to get their hands dirty.

However, BGIE Chairman, Darren Woodcock, says they really could do with more volunteers to do work on the exterior of the clubhouse.

He says: '' BGIE will put the majority of the money towards paints and tools needed, but we would ask for your time to come along and help.

''Whether it’s painting, washing down walls/windows, sweeping up or even making the tea, every minute of your time would be valued.

If you cannot find the time to do this, then we would also be more than happy to accept any small financial donation towards the paints, or even if you have some spare paintbrushes or exterior paint lying around the house, it would be most appreciated.''
