An Ealing designer alongside women from the Hanwell and West Ealing Women's Institutes helped to bring some warmth to the homeless this Christmas.

Local resident, Gina Pierce, designed and organised a charity arts project creating hand made blankets.

Around 200 volunteers were involved and 50 blankets were made up of 24 squares of knitted, crocheted, woven, or stitched fabric, designed to make a large floral design.

The blankets were displayed to the public at Conway Hall, Holborn, on 6th December and then handed out to the guests of the Crisis Centres which provide meals, advice, healthcare and company to thousands of homeless during the Christmas week in London and other cities around the UK.

The project was designed and organised by Gina Pierce, The Cass, London Metropolitan University.

The Christmas centres are now closed but you can still make a donation to Crisis.
