Beacon for the Queen's 90th birthday

Thousands of beacons will be lit across the United Kingdom on 21 April to commemorate the birthday. They will be part of a nationwide chain of beacons that will be started by Her Majesty at Windsor Castle.

Ealing’s beacon will be at the Royal Logistic Corps, Army Reserve Centre in Southall. The Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Harbhajan Kaur Dheer, will be joined by Major Andrew Gifford TD, Mr Richard Kornicki, Representative Deputy Lieutenant for Ealing, council members and other invited local dignitaries to light the beacon at 8.30pm.

Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Harbhajan Kaur Dheer said: “Ealing is proud to be part of the celebrations to mark Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday. I know people across the borough will welcome the lighting of our beacon in honour of this momentous occasion and enjoy the day with community pride.”

Many different organisations will be lighting beacons across the nation, including town and parish councils, local authorities and youth groups. Beacons will be lit at churches, on farms and village greens. Lighthouses, National Trust and English Heritage properties are also taking part in the celebrations.
