Barclays Bank on South Ealing Road will be closing its doors for good in February.

The branch was recently the scene of an armed raid but the company say the announced closure is not related and is due to the changing nature of banking.

A spokesman said:

'' At Barclays in South Ealing customer usage has declined by over 50% and around 70% of customers regularly use alternative branches, which is why we have taken the difficult decision to close the branch.

'' Our colleagues at Barclays in South Ealing have been consulted about the changes and will transfer to other branches nearby.

In addition to the option of online, telephone and mobile banking customers can undertake everyday transactions at any Post Office with the closest being at 145 South Ealing Road, a short walk from the branch.

'' We hope the range of alternatives including digital banking, nearby branches and Post Office access will help to ease the transition for our customers in South Ealing and if any customers have any concerns we would recommend they speak to a member of staff.''

The nearest branches will be: 53 The Broadway, Ealing 41 The Broadway, West Ealing 184 High Street, Acton
