An Ealing entrepreneur and philanthropist has notched up another award.

Param Singh, who was made an MBE in last years honours, has been awarded the British Community Honours Award for services to charity.

In 2010 he founded City Sikhs which now has over 7,000 members and provides a voice for British Sikhs who want to create positive change in society.

On receiving his MBE last year he dedicated it to his grandfather and said: '' I've been influenced by trailblazers within my own family, including my grandfather, Prof Sunder Singh Bhatia the first Sikh to graduate from the University of Sheffield almost 90 years ago. He went on to establish one of the oldest engineering colleges in India. It has been my grandfather's legacy that inspired me to study engineering at university and to work hard and do my best at whatever I do.''

His voluntary work has included working with a wide range of organisations including charities, corporates, faith and interfaith groups, and government departments. One of the projects he has most recently been involved with is working on an app to support professionals in finding mentors to help them with their career aspirations.

On receiving the latest award, Param said,“I am absolutely delighted to receive this prestigious award and have the opportunity to meet so many diverse people who give so much back to society on a daily basis. I hope to continue to do what I can towards promoting diversity and inclusion within society and the world.”
