Plans For Ealing Arts Centre Move Closer |

Appeal launched to help fund feasibility studies into location
The prospect of Ealing finally getting an arts centre has moved a step closer and an appeal has been made to help fund further work. CEPAC (the Campaign for an Ealing Performance and Arts Centre) was set up five years ago with the intention of creating an independent arts facility in Ealing town centre. Detailed discussions are now underway with a private developer for the inclusion of a multi-purpose facility within a proposed town centre development at the Sandringham Mews site in central Ealing, off the High Street. The developer, Dennis Properties announced their involvement in an event held over summer.
Funding is needed in the region of £20,000 for technical feasibility studies for the location, together with setting up a formal trust that would go on to develop, build and then run the arts centre. The CEPAC appeal follows the inclusion of an arts centre as the top priority in last month's referendum to approve the Central Ealing Neighbourhood Plan, which got 92% of votes in favour. Former architect, John Hummerston, chairman of CEPAC said: “There’s an acute shortage of performance arts space in Ealing with the planned changes to the Town Hall being just the latest venue to be lost to local groups.” He has produced visuals to show the type of centre that CEPAC believes is required.
