Ealing residents are being invited to celebrate Armed Forces Day at Greenford Carnival on Saturday, 28 June.

Officers from the 582 Transport Squadron, from the Army Reserve Centre based in Southall, will be attending the event which is similar to many being held all over the UK to recognise and celebrate the commitment and contribution of the British Armed Forces.

Set against the backdrop of Greenford Carnival’s main stage, officers from ABF The Soldiers’ Charity will be on hand to tell visitors more about the British Armed Forces and the work the charity does to support them. Formerly, the Army Benevolent Fund, the charity provides financial and practical support to soldiers, former soldiers and their families in times of need.

Council Leader, Councillor Julian Bell, said: “This event is for all of those officers who have fought and are still fighting for this country. I hope people will take the time to come down and visit the charity’s stall and show their appreciation of the fantastic work they do in looking after our troops and their families.

Greenford Carnival will be held in Ravenor Park, Greenford, UB6 and run from midday to 7pm on Saturday, 28 June. Highlights include live music and dance performances, plus a families area packed full of activities to keep children of all ages busy. Entry is £2 per adult and children aged 12 and under are free. A family ticket is £5, which covers entry for two adults and up to three children aged between 12 and 16 years.
