An eight year old schoolgirl agreed to have her golden locks chopped off to help children who've lost their hair.

Kind hearted Alice Moors from Mayfield school in Hanwell cut her long plait to send to The Little Princess Trust which makes wigs for children who have lost their hair.

It's the same charity that popstar Jesse J shaved her head for last year.

Alice and her mum found out about the charity through a friend who’d heard about the good work they do.

Alice, who has never had her hair short before said :

“I am happy to lose just some of my hair for children who have none at all” she added “I really like my new haircut but it’s a bit cold round my neck!”

Alice’s mum, Tracy Moors, a teacher at Mayfield said “I’m so proud of Alice, she has done such a thoughtful and kind thing.”

Mrs Belinda Ewart, Head Teacher at Mayfield said:

''Alice had done something incredibly brave and generous, what a fantastic role model she is. We all think she’s fabulous!”
