A new initiative is aiming to make sure all elderly and vulnerable people in Ealing can get affordable, freshly cooked meals delivered to their door during the Covid-19 crisis.

Pear Drops, founded in Fulham, has joined with Age UK Ealing, Ealing Soup Kitchen and a large group of volunteers based in various ‘hubs’ taking orders and coordinating drivers to ensure no one goes hungry.

Wendy Schoonjans – co founder says; ‘The over 70’s in particular are among the most vulnerable during this crisis. Some have not had a warm meal in weeks.

Co-founder Daz Seager ( above) adds” One of our customers is 90 years old and hadn’t eaten a warm meal in over 3 weeks. Pear Drops are now delivering a fresh nutritious meal to her every day.”

Meals can be delivered over the whole of the Ealing area, Hounslow and Richmond.

There is a varied menu (including vegetarian) over seven days a week, with fish on Fridays and a proper “Sunday lunch”. Pear Drops also deliver puddings though what gets delivered will depend on what ingredients they have available.

The full menu, ingredients and allergy information can be downloaded from their website at www.peardrops.co.uk

The charity has strived to keep prices down – the meals are £4.  If you’re able to help maintain the service they have a rolling Crowdfund on the go.
