More then 13,000 local residents are due to benefit from free Domestic Security Surveys carried out by Ealing Common Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT).

The team will be visiting every single household on the ward in the next few months looking at household safety. They will provide residents with a report highlighting ways to improve security.

Ealing Common SNT officers have already visited over 600 households, and estimate that 10% has been completed so far. Further checks being carried out on weekly basis, will focus on visiting several streets within the perimeter of their ward each week the visits are conducted.

The effectiveness of this initiative may be measured by a drop in numbers of reported burglaries in the areas where the surveys has already been carried out.

The Ealing Common Safer Neighbourhoods Team are only the second SNT within Metropolitan Police Service to adopt this kind of approach and work together with local residents towards increasing security and personal safety in their area.

PC Stephen Howe from Ealing Common SNT said:

“This simple and effective idea has so far proven to be a hit with local residents. We are very happy with the positive response we are receiving which makes us even more determined to pursue similar projects in the future. This is also a great opportunity for us to maintain and make new links with the residents on our ward. A big thanks has to be given to all members of the team who are all working hard to make sure this initiative is a success”

Residents of the Ealing Common Ward who wish to particpate in this initiative can contact the team on 020 87212948 or email the team on EalingCommon@met.police.uk
