A 19-year-old man from Greenford has appeared in court accused of terrorism offences.

Ayub Khan of Fisher Close was charged on Saturday 27 November and appeared in custody at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday 29 November accused of two offences.

One related to the possession of a knife which was related to the 'commission, preparation or instigation of an act of terrorism contrary to Section 57 of the Terrorism Act 2000' and also three counts of dissemination of terrorist material (contrary to section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006). The latter charge relates to messages sent on a WhatsApp group.

Khan was arrested on 16 November by officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command along with 21-year-old Mohammed Zubair Khan.

Mohammad Zubair Khan was charged on Monday, 22 November with eight counts of dissemination of terrorist material (contrary to Section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006). He first appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 23 November and was remanded in custody, to next appear at the Old Bailey on Friday, 3 December. Ayub Khan will also remain in custody until a preliminary hearing at the Old Bailey on 17 December.
