A 17-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of 16-year-old Rishmeet Singh in Southall

The teenager was arrested on suspicion of murder on Thursday, 2 December.

He appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates Court on Friday, 3 December and has not been named due to his age.

A 19-year-old man arrested on Tuesday, 30 November has been bailed to a date in late December.

Rishmeet died after being stabbed on Wednesday 24 November on Raleigh Road, which is just south of the Grand Union Canal, at 9:07pm.

Police say they were called to the scene after reports of a fight and found the teenager with stab wounds. He was treated by paramedics but died at the scene shortly afterwards.

Rishmeet worked part-time jobs to help care for his disabled mother, who lives above a shop near to where her son was killed.

The investigation into his death is being carried out by homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime led by Detective Chief Inspector James Shirley.
