A man from Southall has been sentenced to six years’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to possession of firearms and drugs.

31-year-old Marcus Mascall was sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court for possession of a prohibited shotgun; possession of ammunition whilst prohibited; possession of Class A drugs (cocaine); and possession of Class C drugs (steroids).

In the early hours of Saturday 11 January officers from the Met’s South West Basic Command Unit executed a search warrant at Mascall’s address operating under the suspicion that he possessed a firearm.

A sawn-off shotgun, 90 cartridges and a blank firing Glock were found in ceiling panels in a communal corridor outside his flat as well as Class A and C drugs. He was immediately charged and remanded to court.

Trident detectives from Specialist Crime investigated and gathered DNA and fingerprint evidence against him.

Detective Constable Kai Murray, from the Met’s Specialist Crime South, said: “This operation led to firearms and ammunition being taking off the streets of London. I have no doubt that the firearms recovered would have been used to cause serious or even fatal injuries.

“Firearms have absolutely no place on our streets and the removal of these makes London a safer place for all”.
