Detectives investigating a murder that took place this Monday (8 June) are asking for the public’s help in tracking the movements of a white Range Rover Evoque that was found burnt out in Ealing.

The vehicle was caught on a CCTV camera near the scene in Shepherd’s Bush shortly after the fatal shooting of a man and then found burnt out in Ascott Avenue, Ealing at 1:05am just 25 minutes later.

A man in his twenties was shot dead on Askew Road opposite the Orchard Tavern at around 12.40am on Monday, 8 June. Despite the attendance of paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and a helicopter from London’s Air Ambulance, the man was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:26am.

He has been named as 20-year-old Alexander Kareem who was believed to be walking home after visiting a convenience store in the area.

Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, of the Met’s Specialist Crime command who leads the investigation said: “I am urging anyone who witnessed what happened or who holds information regarding the white Range Rover to come forward. A young man has been brutally murdered in the street and his family and friends deserve to know what has happened.

“His family are truly devastated and ask that their privacy is respected while they come to terms with their loss.”

Central West Borough Commander, Helen Harper, said: “This is a tragic incident and my thoughts are with the young man’s family and friends.

“In response to this, there will be increased patrols in the area and officers will be happy to talk to anyone who has concerns.

“I wish to reassure the public that police are working round the clock to find those responsible for this. Please do get in touch if you saw or know what happened, no matter how small you feel it may be, it could be the piece that officers need.”
