The man stabbed to death in West Ealing last Sunday (24 November) has been named as 26-year-old Mehran Heydari.

Police have launched a renewed appeal for witnesses to the events leading up to his death at the same time as confirming his identity.

They now believe he had been involved in an altercation at The Avenue about 100 metres down the road from West Ealing train station on Drayton Green Road where he died at 1.18am after being found with stab wounds.

He had driven to the location in a black mini which was in a collision with another car in front of the station. He was still in the car when he was treated by paramedics who battled unsuccessfully to save his life.

A post-mortem examination held at Fulham Mortuary on Sunday, 24 November, found the cause of death to be a single stab wound to the heart.

His next of kin have been informed.

The investigation is being led by homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command.

“If you are worried about calling police, call anonymously through Crimestoppers - they are not part of the police and they will not even ask for your name. Your call could prevent another family living with the heart-wrenching pain of losing a loved one to murder.

“The location of the incident is a busy, heavy footfall area where people were out to eat and shop. If you were in the area you may have seen something, or perhaps you took pictures or video around the time of the incident – was there anything suspicious going on in the background? If you have any information, no matter how small, please do get in touch.”
