A teenager from Ealing has been named as a suspect on reaching his 18th birthday in the case of an attack that took place at the Tate Modern earlier this year.

Jonty Bravery is accused of the attempted murder of a six-year-old child who was thrown from a balcony at the gallery.

Previous Mr Bravery was classed as a minor as he was 17 at the time he was charged in August and had not been named as the suspect. He had previously lived in the Parsons Green area.

The victim, a French national who was visiting London with his family, is conscious but cannot yet move or speak having suffered a fractured spine and a deep bleed to the brain. He was thrown from a 10th floor viewing platform and fell five floors.

The family have issued a statement saying that he "kees on smiling and making progress bravely", but struggled "to speak, to eat or to move his body".

"We see his efforts. We believe with all our heart that he will find the way, from his head, to do everything again.

"He is very brave. He keeps on smiling and reacting to our jokes."

An application was made to continue the anonymity given to Mr Bravery but that was declined this Tuesday at the Old Bailey by Judge Nicholas Hilliard QC,

Mr Bravery is due to appear at a plea hearing in November.
