The OWL notification service has issued a warning about possible scammers knocking door to door in the Ealing area.

They have received reports about men offering to clear gutters clearing and possibly repair roofs. The callers appear credible wearing site clothes but, in many previous cases people offering these services the elderly and ‘find’ expensive repairs that need to be done.

Earlier this year three men from the Ealing area were convicted of carrying out this kind of fraud. Over six months police believe the scammers made at least £388,000. The scam involved the use of a variety of fake company names to target vulnerable householders and created professional looking leaflets which were posted through letterboxes.
