A crane at the Dickens Yard construction site collapsed this afternoon crashing into a half completed building.

London Ambulance Service were called to the scene at Longfield Avenue but nobody has been seriously hurt by the collapse. The crane driver is being treated for shock.

The top half of the tall construction crane at the site near Ealing Broadway appears to have sheared off.

London Fire Brigade sent three fire engines to the scene after being called at 3.30pm

A spokesperson from St George, the developers at the site, sent this statement: '' There was an incident this afternoon involving a crane at the Dickens Yard development in Ealing. No one was injured in the incident. The company is investigating the matter but cannot speculate as to the cause at this stage.''
