The Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Rajinder Mann, is to officially launch an exciting new arts project on Saturday 9th April.

The year-long project, called ‘OPEN Ealing’, aims to bring hundreds of local people together to take part together in a range of arts workshops and classes.

It will be run by West Ealing Arts Project from 113 Uxbridge Road in Ealing, which is located on the corner of Culmington Road.

At the launch event on Saturday local residents are encouraged to drop-by between 12 noon and 4pm.

There will be a range of activities on offer, including taster sessions, art exhibitions, live music and a pre-launch of Ealing Film Club. The exhibition and live music will continue until 8pm.

The arts project, aimed at people of all ages and abilities, is being organised by the West Ealing Arts Project Committee.

The committee includes Chair Ann Pavett from Ealing Arts + Leisure, David Highton from West Ealing Neighbours, artists Jack Jones and Nick Pearson, and representatives from local housing association A2Dominion and Ealing Community and Voluntary Service.

All the workshop and project details can be found at www.openealing.com

The project forms part of the £136m regeneration of the Green Man Lane estate in West Ealing, being carried out by A2Dominion and developer Rydon and designed by Conran & Partners. It is hoped that provision of arts activities will help to stimulate the social and economic life of the local area, helping to build a stronger and more vibrant community.

Over the next 12 months, people will have the chance to take part in a wide range of arts-related sessions such as painting, crafts, dance, sculpture and photography and film-making. The new Ealing Film Club will run quality films under the title “World Cinema”. There will also be opportunities for residents and artists to display and sell their work.
