Paul Manu had run a red light when he hit Mario Radulescu August 14, 2023 A 63-year-old bus driver has been jailed for two and a half years for causing the death of a teenager in Northolt. Paul Manu of Lea Crescent in Ruislip was taking his bus back to the depot on 17 December 2021 when he approached a set of traffic lights on Mandeville Road close to the underground station. When the lights turned to amber, rather than stopping, he accelerated above the speed limit and hit 16-year-old Mario Radulescu, trapping him under the vehicle. Mario, who was born in Romania, was a pupil at St Dominic's Sixth Form College in Harrow-on-the-Hill. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A second person involved in the collision had to be taken to hospital. Manu had admitted the charge of dangerous driving, expressing remorse for his actions, and had been warned at his trial at the Old Bailey last month that he was facing a custodial sentence. A statement from him was read out in which he apologised to Mario’s family who were present in court. He said he remained haunted every day by what he had done.
