The A40 in Greenford was closed for a time this Monday evening (21 March) after a lorry carrying potatoes was involved in a collision with another vehicle.

The potatoes spilled out at the side of the road after the lorry turned over while travelling on the eastbound carriageway at about 7pm.

Video footage shows what appears to be van turned around the wrong way ahead of the lorry which then veers off the A40 onto a parallel residental road crushing a parked car before hitting another vehicle parked in the front driveway of a house.

There are no reports of anyone being seriously injured in the collision.

A police spokesperson said, "Police were called at approximately 19:00hrs on Monday, 21 March to reports of a lorry and car in collision on the A40 in Greenford. No reports of any serious injuries. Work is ongoing to recover the vehicles. Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing."

The vehicles involved were removed from the scene overnight and the A40 has reopened.
